Glen Road is a traditional Irish music group that tours all over North America. Singer Mike Dugger, will play guitar and offer a variety of songs of his own composition and an Irish ballad or two. All-Ireland flute champion Turlach Boylan plays flute, whistle and tenor banjo. They are now joined by Justin Murphy who also plays flute, whistles, guitar and bodhran. The music they play is the foot-stomping, toe-tapping variety you would hear at the end of any day in homes and pubs located throughout Ireland. The music critic of the Alpine Skyline in Alpine, Texas, says “Glen Road aired some memorable tunes with fiddle, flute, tin whistle, guitar and banjo and reinforced the belief that nothing makes a listener cry genuine tears like a sad Irish ballad; at least nothing else this side of a vehicle repair bill or a piece of concrete shooting out the side of a lawnmower and drilling you in the shin. However, these Irish also made me laugh, something no credit card statement will ever do.” Glen Road will have available their first album, “Round the Bend,” and Turlach will have “The Tidy Cottage” (2000) and “Shame the Devil” (2001). Several reviewers have critically acclaimed all three albums. |

The native tallgrass that grows on the prairies of Kansas is also the name taken by a group of musicians from those same prairies. They have combined Western, Bluegrass, Gospel, Rock, and humor to create a blend of unique acoustic music. Their fine western harmonies and bluegrass musicianship teamed with cowboy poetry will surprise and entertain all. "We love to play and sing. We enjoy people and sharing our music with them. We hope to make you smile and laugh as we share old memories and new ones to come." Bluestem was the house band for "The Good Time Radio Review" a live radio show on National Public Radio for many years. They have also performed at music festivals throughout the midwest, and given concerts for the past twenty years. They have performed twelve of the last sixteen years at the Walnut Valley Festival at Winfield, Kansas. They are long time members of the Kansas Touring Arts program, The Kansas Bluegrass Association, and The Western Music Association. |

Mark and Mary Franzke have been singing traditional and original songs for 29 years in the style of the early Country and Bluegrass duet singers. For many years, they performed at festivals throughout the midwest with the Bluegrass band Prairie Fire. They recently recorded a CD of their favorite duets, and a mandolin instrumental CD. This is their fourth time performing for the “Music for Movement” benefit concert. Mary has had Multiple Sclerosis for 27 years and is a participant in the MS Achievement Center. They will be joined again this year by bassist and singer Karla Damm, and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Campbell, who both perform throughout the midwest with the Bluegrass group “Southern Reign.” Karla also plays locally with the group "The Hootin' Annies", and Jimmy plays with "Salty Dog."
